The McKinney Amateur Radio Club, an ARRL-affiliated “Special Service Club,” offers FCC amateur radio license exams. Here’s what you need to know:
When:
Exams are held at 2:00 PM on the third Sunday of each month.
Where:
Heard Museum
Heard Science Resource Center
1 Nature Place, McKinney, TX 75069
(Located north of the main museum building)
Cost:
$15.00 (Cash Only)
What to Expect:
There are three types of FCC amateur radio licenses, and each has its own exam:
- Technician Class License: 35 questions
- General Class License: 35 questions
- Amateur Extra Class License: 50 questions
If you pass your first exam, you may take the next exam in the series at no additional cost, if time allows.
